DMS Upgrade JD Edwards EnterpriseOne to release 24 and migrate to OCI
1. Overview
DMS Powders (Pty) Ltd, a long-time customer of Resolve Red (Pty) Ltd were facing performance issues and security concerns due to the aging on premise infrastructure and version of JD Edwards that they were using and wanted to modernise their IT landscape.
DMS decided to move their JD Edwards instance to a cloud infrastructure solution and decided on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) because of the excellent security, low hosting cost, scalability and guaranteed availability that it provided.
DMS also upgraded Oracle JD Edwards to the latest version of the software available to ensure that they had access to the latest features and functionality that was available as part of their modernisation journey.
DMS required JD Edwards and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure experts to assist with the migration and upgrade of JD Edwards and reached out to Resolve Red (Pty) Ltd, a Redfaire International Partner to assist with the migration and upgrade of JD Edwards. Resolve Red has been a trusted and strategic partner for DMS for over a decade.
2. Customer Challenge
DMS’s goal was to improve business efficiency and to reduce operating costs by using modern technology to drive innovation, modernise integration and automate business processes.
DMS chose to meet this requirement by upgrading JD Edwards to version 9.2 Release 24 and migrating their JD Edwards instance from an on-premises solution to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
During the upgrade project several businesses processes were automated specifically in the procurement and manufacturing functional areas. The power of the Orchestrator in JD Edwards was widely used to integrate 3rd party systems with JD Edwards reducing manual data entry thus reducing processing time and errors.
3. Outcomes
By upgrading JD Edwards and migrating JD Edwards from an on-premises instance to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure DMS have transformed their IT landscape to a secure future ready platform that unlocked increased stability, performance and cost saving. By utilising the integration and automation capabilities of the JD Edwards Orchestrator DMS increased productivity and reduced processing errors.
