In our journey to ensure that we always adhere to our continuous improvement philosophy, we constantly interrogate the market for new and improved software to drive our solutions. Our experience has taught us that a learning enablement tool needs to be able to provide the following:
Simplification of the authoring and editing of content, reducing the time and effort involved. With our previous authoring tool, it took a significant amount of time to author and edit content. We found this to be too time-consuming and this made our solution less attractive from a cost perspective.
Publication of the lessons in different formats, for example Word, PDF, HTML and PowerPoint.
Live help (context-sensitive help) is very valuable to users. We need a solution that makes this available in a very user-friendly way, which is quick and simple for us to set-up.
Flexibility in designing simulations and tests with additional content like quizzes and videos.
In terms of rendering the content to learners, we had to use a separate Learning Management Solution (LMS). Being able to get the reports that we needed required bespoke development and this became costly and cumbersome to maintain. Being able to provide on-the-fly information and reports about learners, their progress and courses is critical to the management of the e-learning process.
As many of our clients use UPK, we also wanted a solution that would be able to convert UPK training material and eliminate the need to re-author training content.
